These unique, small-group practical workshops cover a range of important imaging topics and are delivered by experts from national and international imaging societies. CardioStars: a research translation and commercialisation programme from the British Heart Foundation
CardioStars helps physicians and scientists take their research discoveries and turn them into products and businesses that can make a difference to patients. The programme provides a crash course in research translation, innovation and entrepreneurship, and offers networking opportunities and expert mentoring.
The programme is funded by the BHF and participation is offered free of charge. We are particularly keen to enrol cardiologists at the early stages of their research career, including those undertaking MDs and PhDs. No prior experience or a specific idea is required, just an interest and eagerness to learn.

London Arrhythmia Summit: 14 June 2024, The King’s Fund, London
The London Arrhythmia Summit aims to provide high-quality arrhythmia and pacing education in a succinct one-day format in the UK. The talks are short and focussed with key take-home messages highlighted in a retainable manner. Some presentations will have provocative titles to enable drilling down to key clinical questions that we often ask in routine patient care. There will be no-holds-barred debates with heavyweights in the arrhythmia field tackling challenging clinical scenarios and questions. Liverpool Structural Cardiology Course: 12 July 2024, The Muncipal Hotel, Liverpool
The Liverpool Structural Cardiology Simulation Course is a full day, hands-on course designed to offer a comprehensive and in depth experience on all aspects of structural intervention. It will give delegates exposure to TAVI, TEER (Mitral Valve intervention), PFO/ASD closure, left atrial appendage occluders as well as core skills such as vascular closure and transeptal puncture. The course is heavily subsidised and has limited spaces. All Cardiology trainees are welcome and delegates will be grouped according to their experience level for an individualised experience.

Trainee Sessions at BCS: Monday 3rd June 2024, Charter 3
The hurdles of academia & training – how to succeed
This session is designed to encourage discussion around how best to approach academic and clinical training, and practical tools to navigate the possible hurdles trainees may face. It also provides insight into how the BHF funding process works, to which trainees are rarely exposed until applying for grants. This session will take place from 10.00am – 11.00am.
ACHD and Maternal Medicine for Trainees
This session is designed to provide an overview of challenging ACHD and maternal cardiology presentations that arise on call, and how to approach them as a general cardiology trainee. This session will take place from 11.30am – 12.30pm.
Expanding your role within cardiology
How to diversify your professional scope and interests as a cardiologist. Tips, tricks and experience from those who have taken the plunge! This session will take place from 13.45 – 15.15.

NEW! BCS/Valve for Life Symposia
Patient access to TAVI : Resetting the gender balance
The BCS and Valve for Life, supported by Medtronic, are holding three identical symposia at BCS2024 on Tuesday 4 June. Research has shown that women are less likely to receive aortic valve replacement – you are invited to attend the symposia to discuss the issues and help shape the future of women’s access to cardiology services. The sessions take place from 9.30-10.30am, 11.30am- 12.30pm and 2-3pm – to book login to the conference website. Please register for one session only to allow others to attend.
NEW! Active Bystander Training
Racism, bullying, sexual harassment and other inappropriate behaviours contribute to a toxic culture. It can be deeply corrosive and damaging if these behaviours and attitudes are normalised over time. That’s why it’s essential for everyone to know how to speak up when problems arise. Our new training takes place on Monday 3 June in two identical sessions, at 12.45pm or 2pm and you must be registered for the BCS conference first. Places are limited to 25 people – book here.
