Programme: BJCA Programming Flyer – V3

Session 1 : Device Implantation and peri-implant device & lead assessment

  • Thursday 17th September 17.30-18.45

At the end of this you will understand:

  1. Selecting leads and fixation- active vs passive
  2. Device choice and mode selection
  3. Unipolar vs bipolar
  4. Threshold, sensing and impedence- what do they mean and what’s abnormal
  5. Undersensing vs oversensing

Session 2 : Emergency management of Brady devices

  • Thursday 24th September 17.30-18.30

At the end of this you will understand:

  1. Identify alerts flagged by programmer
  2. How to test sensing, impedance and threshold
  3. Reprogram pacing modes: VVI, VOO, OVO (e.g. needs to go to Theatre at 3am),
  4. Change base rate of pacing (e.g. LQTS with torsades, optimising CRT)
  5. Identify depleted battery status and alarms.

Session 3 : Emergency management of Tachy devices

  • Thursday 1st October 17.30-18.30

At the end of this you will understand:

  1. Understand the effect of a magnet on devices
  2. Recall device EGMs of captured arrhythmias to determine inappropriate vs appropriate
  3. Check when and what therapies have been adminstered by the device
  4. identify stored/treated arrhythmia events
  5. disable and enable tachycardia zones therapies


Session 4: Case scenarios with expert faculty

  • Thursday 8th October 17.30-18.30
