CardioStars: a research translation and commercialisation programme from the British Heart Foundation

CardioStars is designed to help physicians and scientists take their research discoveries and turn them into products and businesses that can make a difference to patients. The programme provides a crash course in research translation, innovation and entrepreneurship. It offers exceptional networking opportunities, expert mentoring from seasoned entrepreneurs and investors, and advice from professional advisers, including patent attorneys.

The programme is funded by the BHF and participation is offered free of charge. We are particularly keen to enrol cardiologists at the early stages of their research career, including those undertaking MDs and PhDs. UK Maternal Cardiology Society (UKMCS) Trainee Conference – 22nd April 2024

The UKMCS is proud to present a not-for profit, trainee focused educational day on presentations of cardiac emergencies in maternal/obstetric care. The day is centred around a combination of multi-speciality case based discussions and lectures by an expect faculty. The programme has been aimed at and mapped to Cardiology, O+G, Anaesthetic and Intensive Care curricula and aimed at the ST3+ level but all who are interested are welcome. A full programme will be published shortly on the UKMCS website. The event, which is to be hosted at Engineers House in Bristol benefits from on-site parking, a later start time to reduce rush hour stress and is fully catered.

UKMCS members with receive a discount and can be applied for by any new members also. Membership for trainees can be obtained for only £30 via the UKMCS website and selecting the associate tier; this also comes with a variety of discounts to our other educational events.

South Coast Electrophysiology Conference: 25th April 2024, University Hospital Southampton

This is a one-day conference, where experts from across the country will discuss the latest technological advancements in electrophysiology and devices. They will also be addressing current controversies in the field and discussing their approaches to challenging presentations.

The conference will be held at University Hospital Southampton and will be targeted to Consultant Cardiac Electrophysiologists as well EP Fellows and Registrars, GPs with a special interest in cardiac rhythm management, cardiac physiologists and specialist arrhythmia nurses.

BHRS Accreditation for Physicians: Registration for inaugural Physician Exam Now Open

2024 marks the introduction of BHRS Accreditation for Physicians. Aimed at trainees at ST6 grade and beyond, this exam focuses on the advanced theme of “Leading an arrhythmia service.”
Achieving physician accreditation in this specialised field will not only demonstrate your expertise but also serve as compelling evidence of completing the advanced training theme.

London Arrhythmia Summit: 14 June 2024, The King’s Fund, London
