Booking will open for our free annual EECC revision course ‘Cardiology to the Core’, which is being held in Birmingham on the 11th and 12th May, on Friday 16th Feb at 12pm. The course has limited places and is first come first served so make sure you add a reminder to your calenders! The booking link will be added to the newswire shortly.

Four weeks left to register for the EEEC 2024 exam: 18 June 2024

Booking is now open for the 2024 European Exam in Core Cardiology. Passing the EECC is a curriculum requirement for CCT in the UK and is administered by the European Society of Cardiology, in conjunction with the UEMS Cardiology Section and the national cardiac societies.

The 2024 exam will take place on Tuesday 18 June and registration is now open – the closing date for registrations is 11.59pm on Monday 26 February – late applications will not be accepted. There are two points of entry to the exam – one for UK trainees and one for CESR candidates, please follow the links below:

BCS Abstract submissions now open! Submit your abstracts and award entries for BCS 2024!

You can now submit your abstracts and award entries for BCS2024, the BCS annual conference in Manchester in June. Selected abstracts will be published in a special edition of the BCS/BMJ Journal Heart, so will reach a large international audience. The different categories of abstracts and awards are listed below and have different application processes and deadlines:

Clinical Abstracts: These abstracts can be submitted via the online portal in the following categories:

  • Acute coronary syndromes & Interventional Cardiology

Young Investigator Award Submission (YIA)
The Young Investigators Award competition is also open for applications. The submission is separate from that governing the poster abstracts and consists of a brief communication comprising an abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion and figure legends. Research work submitted as a poster abstract can also be submitted in the YIA competition. The detailed instructions are here and the deadline for submissions is 11.59pm on Sunday 3 March 2024.

CT in Adult Congenital Heart Disease Course: 12th and 13th February 2024, Liverpool

AVATAR post-CCT fellowship starting October 2024

St. George’s Hospital AVATAR program is recruiting for a fully funded post-Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) level, or EU-equivalent, clinical fellowship in Ventricular Arrhythmias. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain first-hand operator experience in mapping and ablation of ventricular arrhythmias in a busy tertiary cardiology centre, with quaternary referrals for ventricular arrhythmias, under the direct supervision of Dr M Saba. The fellow will gain experience in mapping and ablation of ventricular arrhythmias, including epicardial-endocardial, in all substrates. The minimum duration is 12 months, starting October 2024.
