First call for registration for the EEEC 2024 exam – 18 June 2024

Booking is now open for the 2024 European Exam in Core Cardiology. Passing the EECC is a curriculum requirement for CCT in the UK and is administered by the European Society of Cardiology, in conjunction with the UEMS Cardiology Section and the national cardiac societies.

The 2024 exam will take place on Tuesday 18 June and registration is now open – the closing date for registrations is 11.59pm on Monday 26 February – late applications will not be accepted. There are two points of entry to the exam – one for UK trainees and one for CESR candidates, please follow the links below:

BCS –  A Year in Cardiology – Friday 15th December 2023

The culmination to the cardiovascular year will review the biggest and most relevant topics of the past 12 months. This course is a must-attend for consultants and cardiology trainees who wish to keep up to date on advances in cardiology. There will also be a live Q&A session posing questions to the expert panel.

A two-day echo course on the weekend of the 24th and 25th February at UCL in London. Prior to this, delegates will have access to 8 hours of pre-recorded lectures delivered by award winning consultants/BSE faculty. There will be two full days of hands-on echo scanning with experienced physiologists, senior registrars and consultants who are BSE accredited. All food and refreshments will be provided. Cardiology Mock Interviews – sign up by 17:00 on 19th January 2024

The BJCA Starter Committee have developed a new programme to offer full length mock interviews to Cardiology ST4 applicants for the 2024 intake.
We are looking for cardiology trainees/consultants (current ST4 and above) who would be willing to act as mock interviewers. These would take place throughout the week commencing 19th February 2024 during the evenings/at the weekend, conducted via MS Teams.
Pre-prepared questions will be provided, for a 35 minute interview with 5-10 minutes of feedback per candidate. You will be paired with another interviewer, and would be asked to conduct 3 mock interviews in a session.
Certification of involvement will be issued to all interviewers.

AVATAR post-CCT fellowship starting October 2024

St. George’s Hospital AVATAR program is recruiting for a fully funded post-Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) level, or EU-equivalent, clinical fellowship in Ventricular Arrhythmias. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain first-hand operator experience in mapping and ablation of ventricular arrhythmias in a busy tertiary cardiology centre, with quaternary referrals for ventricular arrhythmias, under the direct supervision of Dr M Saba. The fellow will gain experience in mapping and ablation of ventricular arrhythmias, including epicardial-endocardial, in all substrates. The minimum duration is 12 months, starting October 2024.
