Recruitment for Trainees Reps for the BCS Programme Committee

The BCS is seeking 2 trainee reps for its Programme Committee.

Details of the Committee can be seen in the accompanying role descriptor (link above).

Trainee representatives are normally appointed on to a BCS Committee for a period of 3 years with a lead in time to this 3-year period allowing for an overlap with the current trainee reps to support transition and continuity. The lead in period will start shortly after appointment (beginning of July) and the three year term will officially commence on Monday 27th November 2023 and will run until 26th November 2026. Minimum attendance requirements for members (including trainee reps) is 75%.

A bi-annual meeting is held with the BCS Leadership and all trainee reps to enable a joined up approach and discuss any matters arising.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the inner workings of the Society at an early stage and help influence and shape our activities in support of our broader strategic aims.

‘Cardiology at its Core’ reference text now published.

‘Cardiology at its Core’ takes a first principles approach in its exploration of areas pertinent to cardiovascular medicine. It is authored by Dr Peysh Patel (consultant cardiologist at QEH) and published by Wiley-Blackwell. It seeks to translate principles into practice by combining the best points of a handbook and textbook. It is an ideal learning resource for those keen to pursue specialty training or who have recently embarked. It is also broadly aligned with European guidelines, providing a contemporary revision aid for those undertaking core specialist exams.
