Description: Post available from the 2nd of October 2023 Location: Harefield and Royal Brompton Hospitals We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Advanced Heart Failure, Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support to be based primarily at the Harefield Hospital site.  The post is suitable for individuals who have had some cardiology training and have an interest in heart failure. Post CCST trainees are also welcomed to apply. S/he will be responsible for the day-to-day management of studies relevant to the project. The basic working week is 40 hours. (8 hours at Royal Brompton Hospital and 32 hours at Harefield Hospital). There are no on-call duties. The post is funded by ACORAI AB. The funding is secured for the successful candidate who will be expected to work towards an MD/PhD (tuition fees are to be funded by the candidate). The contract duration is 1 year with a possibility of an extension for up to 3 years by mutual consent.  The successful candidate will carry out multiple projects related to advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and left ventricular assist devices. One of the projects will form the focus of the successful candidate's work with the hope of obtaining an MD or PhD.  The post holder will be involved in the clinical care of patients in the projects and will be the primary point of contact for these patients. They will actively recruit all patients required for the projects. The post holder will be expected to participate in submitting ethics applications, recruiting and consenting patients, follow-up of the subjects, data analysis, and manuscript writing. The post holder will also be expected to write and submit grants for other projects based on advanced heart failure, transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. The post-holder will also participate in research projects related to cardiac sarcoidosis. The post holder will be expected to work with colleagues within the transplant unit at Harefield Hospital and with heart failure specialists at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
